YOUR MENTOR WILL BE SOMEONE FROM YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT

COMMITMENT/TIMELINE
- 1 year commitment
- Meet and Greet – training and create a development plan
- Fun Team Activity – twice a year
ROLES
Mentor
- Set up the initial meeting
- Find out what mentee wants in the relationship – form a plan
- Be a life mentor
- Serve as a reference
- Be available in a crisis
Mentee
- Maintain, contact and attend follow-up meetings
- Create goals with milestones and deliverables
- Be a good communicator via email or phone
- Be realistic about setting timelines
- Prepare for meetings
TASKS
Mentor
- Implement a Development Plan
- Assist and direct mentee to the completion of tasks and program
- Provide advising and feedback to mentees on a regular basis
- Participate in mentoring activities like orientation, training and meetings
- Communicate with the mentee on a regular basis – monthly
- Review and respond to mentee’s materials in a timely fashion
Mentee
- Collaborate and design a Development Plan with the mentor
- Participate in activities in various areas of development (i.e. Personal, Professional, Academic and Leadership)
- Develop a personal and professional relationship with the mentor
- Provide feedback to mentor after each activity
- Apply the mentor’s feedback in future decisions and actions
- Give feedback to mentor’s materials in a timely fashion
